Chemical formula LiBO2. Molecular weight 49.75. Colorless triclinic crystal with pearl luster. The melting point is 845℃, and the relative density is 1.39741.7. Dissolved in water. Above 1200℃, it begins to decompose. Lithium oxide is formed. Its octahydrate is a colorless trigonal crystal with a melting point of 47°C and a relative density of 1.3814.9. Preparation method: It can be prepared by melting the stoichiometric amount of lithium hydroxide or lithium carbonate and boric acid. Uses: making ceramic materials.

Application

It is used in the pharmaceutical industry and the preparation of acid-resistant enamel 99.99% is used as a flux for the preparation of glass body by X-ray fluorescence analysis. It is recommended to mix samples such as fused alumina, silicon oxide, phosphorus pentoxide and sulfide with lithium tetraborate. 99% is used as a flux in the glass or ceramic production industry. 99.9% used as an additive in the production of lithium-based greases
